Verdict

Several to consider in a typically compeititve renewal of this valuable handicap. SUMMERGHAND shaped far better than his finishing position would suggest in the Stewards' Cup a fortnight ago and he makes plenty of appeal off this reduced mark. Blackrod failed to progress when seventh in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot, but that's more of a chink than a dent in his otherwise progressive profile and the 4-y-o is feared on debut for new yard. Intrinsic Bond and Emperor Spirit are also shortlisted.

  1. SUMMERGHAND (IRE)
  2. BLACKROD
  3. INTRINSIC BOND
