Pick 7: Man On The Spot previews for Epsom Friday

There's £100,000 up for grabs in Friday's Pick 7 game and resident tipster Man On The Spot has previewed the action at Epsom.

2.00 Investec Woodcote Stakes

Richard Hannon and Richard Fahey have strong claims as both are doubly represented but CARDSHARP makes plenty of appeal too for Mark Johnston. The son of Lonhro, an easy scorer on his Brighton debut, was only beaten just over a length in a better race at Ascot last time. He's shown good early speed on both occasions and will probably set out to make all. De Bruyne Horse could not have won more easily at Ripon on his second start and seems sure to go well with Ryan Moore booked, whilst cosy York winner Zap looks the first choice of the Fahey pair and understandably so after that impressive debut performance. The remaining quartet are all winners but look to have something to find with the aforementioned trio.

G K CHESTERTON has been lightly-campaigned with only half a dozen runs in three seasons for Godolphin but continues to progress and the best is yet to be seen of him. He appeared to oblige with something in hand at Newmarket and a 5lb rise for that success seems reasonable. It's interesting that connections reach for first-time cheekpieces in the hope of ekeing out further improvement. Remarkable should deliver a solid effort off topweight as he does have a splash of class and Sixties Groove is another interesting contender. He did display a tendency to hang in his races last term but was progressive nonetheless and further improvement is anticipated in his 4-y-o campaign. He should go well on this seasonal reappearance. Spring Offensive and Mutarakez both went well in good, competitive handicaps last time and are of interest once again.

3.10 Investec Coronation Cup

Amazingly, Ballydoyle and Godolphin field a combined total of six of the ten that go to post. Ryan Moore takes the ride on the globetrotting Highland Reel whose roll of honour last term included the Breeders' Cup Turf, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and runner-up performances in the Arc de Triomphe and Juddmonte International. His record speaks for itself and he seems sure to be involved at the business end. However, his stable companion IDAHO also makes real appeal and hopefully will be fully tuned for this seasonal reappearance. He was placed in both The Derby and Irish Derby when continuing to suggest that he would make an even better 4-y-o. Hopefully, he can give credence to that viewpoint here. Last year's Eclipse winner, Hawkbill, also a scorer last time at Newbury, looks best of the Godolphin contingent but has shown his best on soft ground. If there is to be a gatecrasher against the two powerhouses, then John Gosden's Journey could be the one. Trip and ground will suit the winner of the Group 1 Fillies and Mares on Champions Day last season and she's a major threat, although there's the possibility she's at her very best come the autumn.

3.45 Investec Wealth & Investment Handicap

Most can be afforded claims but trip and track seemed to suit BROROCCO ideally when he launched a withering late challenge under Jimmy Quinn to land the City and Suburban. He should be able to handle a 5lb higher mark and ran perfectly well when runner-up at Chester latest. He is a hold-up merchant and Oisin Murphy will require the right gaps to appear at the right time. The expertise of Sir Michael Stoute with older horses is legendary and it will be no surprise to see Fidaawy build on his Doncaster success and prove highly competitive. There must be more to come from the son of New Approach after just eight career starts. Course and distance winner What About Carlo has to be respected with his yard firing in the winners at present and the likes of Innocent Touch and course and distance winner Grapevine are others to consider.

4.30 Investec Oaks

Aidan O'Brien has already landed the Guineas double in both England and Ireland and RHODODENDRON can continue his remarkable Classic spree. The daughter of Galileo was unlucky in running at Newmarket although it is questionable whether she would have beaten dual Guineas heroine, Winter. Nevertheless it was a run brimful of promise for the rest of the season and she looks to have strong claims of continuing the O'Brien domination of English Classics. Enable is the obvious danger on the back of a very comfortable Chester Oaks success when accounting for another Ballydoyle contender in Alluringly. The Gosden filly seems sure to improve again after only three starts and Epsom should suit after the way the daughter of Nathaniel handled Chester. Sobetsu impressed in landing the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary on her reappearance and it's a bold and intriguing decision to run here instead of the French Oaks. The lightly-raced Natavia and Horseplay make most appeal of those at longer odds and it's good to see an American challenger in Daddys Lil Darling, runner-up last time in the Kentucky Oaks.

5.15 Investec Savings Surrey Stakes

SUTTER COUNTY seemed to relish the move to 7f when taking a competitive Goodwood handicap very recently and is expected to try to repeat the make-all tactics that proved so effective in Sussex. If that race six days ago has not taken its' toll, he should prove hard to catch once again. Seven Heavens was better last time but continues to suggest he is still not realising full potential and it will be interesting to see his reaction to this idiosyncratic track. Kodiline should have a good season but may need this whereas Solomon's Bay, who impressed at Yarmouth last season, gives the impression he's coming to the boil and could prove the main danger.

5.50 Investec Foreign Exchange Handicap

A wide-open affair in which AARDWOLF is a hopeful choice. He faded right out of contention the last day but had impressed when winning at Doncaster previously. That last run is best forgotten and the Johnson horses do have a tendency to bounce back after a poor run or two. Expect to see Franny Norton ride an aggressive race and try to see them off one by one. Eaton Square revealed useful ability last term and looks the danger. He's been absent for over 220 days but the booking of Ryan Moore indicates connections mean business. Atteq and Black Trilby are contenders from the foot of the weights whilst Musawaat, Zamjar and Firefright all showed enough last time to be worthy of consideration.
