Timeform's US Racing expert Jake Price is back with his tips for tonight's action Stateside.
Ignacio Correas is having a fine Keeneland meet with half of his horses in the first three from twelve entries, including a trio of winners, and his TWO ITEM SAVER looks worthy of a small each-way interest in the allowance which goes as the penultimate race on the card.
Two Item Saver has had the six runs and has hit the wire in front on three occasions. She absolutely blitzed up in an allowance over this distance here last October, with 13½ lengths back to the runner-up, who’s scored a couple of times herself since. What made the performance more impressive was the manner in how she quickened from last off the steady pace.
She wasn’t seen to best effect around two turns at Churchill Downs next out, the distance probably stretching her stamina, but she quickly picked up the winning thread on the all-weather at Turfway Park at the end of the year. I’m happy to toss the last effort as the jump to a Grade 2 may have simply been a step too far.
The class relief she gets in this spot, whilst returning to a track she’s won at, make her an interesting proposition at the odds.
