Premier League betting: Sky Bet Price Boost pays out £1.6m

Sky Bet's Soccer Special Price Boost paid out for the third time in nine days on Sunday - this time to the tune of £1.6million.

It was fine end to the Premier League season for backers of the final-day 11/2 shot.

The Liverpool, Arsenal and West Ham treble came in thanks to Andre Ayew’s 72nd-minute winner for the Hammers at Burnley.

That goal saw them win 2-1 at Turf Moor. Elsewhere, Liverpool were convincing 3-0 winners over Middlesbrough as they booked a place in next season’s Champons League at the expense of Arsneal, who did all they could by defeating Everton 3-1.

That trio of results ensured those who backed the 11/2 (from 4/1) Price Boost ended the season in high spirits.

The win for punters came hot on the heels of last weekend's 8/1 success and the midweek 4/1 payout.

Sky Bet’s head of public relations Sandro Di Michele said: "We’ve paid out on these Price Boosts many, many times this season and they’ve proved a real hit with punters.

"There are plenty of big matches to come with the FA Cup and Champions League finals among them, so I’d suggest punters look out for more of our offers in those."

Next season’s odds

Liverpool are 25/1 to win next season’s Champions League with Sky Bet after securing their place in next season’s competition.

The Reds booked their place in the play-off round thanks to Sunday’s 3-0 Anfield win over Middlesbrough.

They will now have to win one two-legged tie in August in order to reach the group stage.

Manchester City, the other team to clinch a top-four Premier League finish on the final day of the season, are already in the group stage and the 2015/16 semi-finalists can be backed at 11/1.

Champions Chelsea - tipped to win this season's title by our Matt Brocklebank at 13/2 back in August - are the same price, with Tottenham, who bowed out in this season’s group stage, offered at 20/1.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are 11/10 to repeat this season’s top-four domestic finish in 2017/18 with the market suggesting they will actually finish sixth.

Manchester City are 1/6, Manchester United and Chelsea both 2/7 and Tottenham 8/11. The latter must head to Wembley to play their home games next season.

Arsenal, who had finished in the top four in each of the last 20 years, were consigned to fifth this time around. They are 10/11 to return to the top four in 2017/18.

Sky Bet also offer odds on the clubs to finish outside the top four. Liverpool and Arsenal are both odds-on at 4/6 and 4/5 respectively, while Tottenham are evens, United and Chelsea both 5/2 and City 7/2.

As for next season’s title odds, Man City are the 9/4 favourites ahead of what promises to be another busy transfer window. Local rivals United are 11/4, with reigning champions Chelsea only third favourites at 3/1.

Tottenham come next at 8/1, with Liverpool at 11/1 and Arsenal offered at 14/1 – their longest pre-season price under Arsene Wenger’s reign.

Big winners

Sunday’s Serie A win for Juventus completed an ante-post five-timer for one lucky Sky Bet punter – winning them more than £21,000.

The person in question had already nailed the winners of the four English divisions – Chelsea (5/1), Newcastle (7/4), Sheffield United (5/1), Portsmouth (4/1) – and needed Juve to come good to land his 364/1 shot.

The Old Lady’s 3-0 win over Crotone ensured they claimed the title with a game to spare and ensured the punter’s £60 stake was fully justified.

Another big winner, albeit involving smaller amounts of money, was a punter who backed Harry Kane to score first in a 7-1 Spurs win on Sunday. They duly beat Hull by such a scoreline with the Golden Boot winner grabbing the opener.

The person in question had £3 on at 450/1, thus winning £1,350.
