European Masters 2016: Judd Trump edges out O'Sullivan

Judd Trump kept his nerve to beat Ronnie O'Sullivan in a final frame shoot-out and clinch the European Masters title in Bucharest.

Trump produced one of the finest performances of his career as he clawed back from 8-6 down to win their best-of-17 encounter with a break of 74 in the decider.

O'Sullivan, who thrashed Neil Robertson 6-0 in the semi-final, led 5-3 at the interval before a break of 105 - Trump's second of the match - helped him pull back level.

After O'Sullivan had moved to the brink of victory, Trump responded with his third century and proceeded to wrap up a thrilling 9-8 win.

"I'm a little bit in disbelief," Trump told worldsnooker.com.

"To go 8-6 down was a little bit disheartening. I was faced with a difficult blue in the next frame and I just thought that I have to go for it.

"After that, I didn't miss in the next three frames. To produce that under pressure against Ronnie will stand me in good stead for the rest of the season.

"It's nice to win this tournament and get my confidence back. I'm using a new cue and probably should have beaten Michael White in China.

"I was a little bit disheartened. I said to my manager that I want to change my cue again, but he told me to stick with it. Luckily I did."
