Verdict

Division 1 of the concluding 2m4f handicap hurdle, and not a great deal of obvious strength in depth as one might expect given the grade. Be My Vinnie is an obvious starting point, and at first glance he appears high in the weights now 6lb higher for his 3m success at Limerick in March. However, his Ballinrobe effort in September reads well, with both Eiri Na Casca (Thurles) and Granny Biddy (twice at Cork) winning since. However, if you dig back into that Limerick contest, it's possible to build a solid case for the 15 race maiden THE CHURCH GATE. Ignoring his more recent efforts over fences, he was twice a runner up over hurdles during March, including when grabbed on the line by Be My Vinnie, and he could prove best suited by this reduced trip of 2m4f.
  1. The Church Gate
  2. Be My Vinnie
  3. Paddy's Orient
