No win in 10 starts and handicap mark has fallen a long way in a short space of time; some promise to be gleaned from his latest fourth at Taunton and this step up in trip ought to suit; not discounted from a weak event.
The odd good run gives hope he can win one of these, such as his length second at Fontwell back in November, but there are too many modest efforts on his card to be confident about him. Conditions fine but he comes with risk attached.
Some reasonable efforts over hurdles but jumping left plenty to be desired on his chase debut at Lingfield last month. Needs to tidy that up to hold his best chance here, but he is at least open to some improvement in a first time tongue-strap.
Put his stamina to good use when dropped right back in trip at Leicester last time (2m), getting on top late on; up 5lb for that and this ground no problem, but whether he'll put it in again is anyone's guess, given previous patchy profile.
Not the most consistent around but handles this ground and there's enough decent efforts in his form to suggest he can be a threat if on song here; might enjoy going back right-handed too, and will be staying on when others have had enough.
Almost always well backed but has only delivered once in the past year, that coming at Hereford back in December (modest form); conditions fine and likely the money will come for him again, but clearly beatable.
Have to go back to 2017 to find the last time he got his head in front, and there's not been a lot of recent encouragement from him to suggest he's about to turn things around; this trip plenty far enough for him as well.
On the downgrade and hasn't won for getting on three years now; not the worst effort over hurdles at Uttoxeter last time but races from 4lb out of the handicap here, and others readily preferred.
