Free horse racing tips for Sunday April 22

Nick Robson looks ahead to the pick of the action on Sunday, including tips for Market Rasen, Wincanton and Stratford.

Blu Cavalier looks a horse with a future and it is no surprise to see him out again relatively quickly in the cowsfeet.co.uk "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle at Wincanton.

He has obviously had his problems as he is already eight and still just a novice hurdler but it is all dropping into place now.

Beaten twice in February where he showed flickers of promise, it was not until he won at Wincanton in March he finally showed what he was made of.

Then in a better race a week and a half ago at Taunton he looked even better, strolling clear from halfway.

His two wins over hurdles have come in heavy ground but he also has a bumper win to his name way back in 2015 that came on good ground so he will not mind the better conditions, either.

It is no secret that Philip Hobbs has endured a miserable season but his horses are running into a little bit of form which makes Little Miss Poet of interest in the Royal Bath & West Show Society Handicap Hurdle.

She managed a win in April at newton Abbot when long odds on but it is the form of her run at Ascot in November which stands out, less than six lengths behind Verdana Blue.

Given that mare was strongly fancied for the Betfair Hurdle Little Miss Poet did well to get as close as she did and off a mark of just 119 she must have a chance.

Gonalston Cloud might be up to defying top weight in the Call Star Spreads On 00353 1884 8114 Handicap Chase at Market Rasen.

The bold-jumping 11-year-old grey had been out of sorts for a while before bouncing back to win at Wetherby last month.

That was his first success since December 2016 which came at the end of a very productive spell which saw him go on to finish second in both the North Yorkshire and Edinburgh Nationals.

The season before that he made hay in novice chases having come from the pointing fields where he was also a prolific winner.

While his best days are behind him he stays well and likes good ground.

Unbelievably they have been watering at Stratford but that should make no difference to the chance of Kayf Blanco in the £20 Free Bets At totesport.com "Confined" Handicap Chase.

Graeme McPherson's charge is very versatile, he has run well on quick ground and heavy, so it all comes alike.

It must have been frustrating this season for his connections as he has not run a bad race yet has failed to get his head in front.

Of course the agony of it is that he keeps on creeping up the handicap which makes things even harder but this could be a nice race for him.

He looked sure to win at Wetherby only to be short of room after the last and go down by a neck to Mercian Prince.

After that he ran another fine race at Kempton when second and last time out at the same track he chased home Vocaliser.

Hopefully all the stars will align this time.
