Richard Fahey column: York Dante Festival

Richard Fahey fired an opening-day treble at the Dante Festival and hopes to add to his tally on the Knavesmire this afternoon.

Wednesday was obviously a fantastic day for all the team, with Clubbable, George Bowen and Charming Kid bringing up a treble.

Everyone at the yard works so hard to get the horses ready for days like this and it's always special to have winners at York, so three on day one of the Dante Festival is fantastic.

I should probably stick with the lucky new hat for the rest of the week!

Clubbable is a progressive filly and she may get a little bit further than seven furlongs. It's a great advertisement for her sire Mayson and helps dispel the theory they all want the ground to be on the soft side.

George Bowen will go up in the weights for his wide-margin win and hopefully the handicapper takes into account it rather fell into his lap. He was really impressive though, despite going into the race with a pretty poor course record.

He should certainly get into all the big sprint handicaps now anyway...

Charming Kid was bought at the breeze-ups and is a smashing little horse. He still looked a touch green so should improve for the experience and we're likely to aim towards either the Windsor Castle or the Norfolk Stakes. I'd maybe be leaning towards the latter.

Here's hoping there's more to come today and Third Time Lucky - in the same silks as George Bowen - has been running well without winning.

We try again in the Betfred TV Hambleton Handicap.

If they go an end-to-end gallop the race might just suit him and I'd love to see him get his head in front again this season.

Lightning Attack is a nice two-year-old colt, we like him and Charming Kid winning yesterday gives us some encouragement.

He'll be winning races this season, I'm sure of it, and starts out in the Stratford Place Stud Breeds Group Winners ebfstallions.com Maiden Stakes.

It's obviously a very warm race on paper but I hope our fellow goes well.
