Richard Fahey reflects on his French raid last weekend while looking ahead to his Saturday and Sunday team around the country including Toro Strike at Goodwood.
SUNDAY RUNNERS
Brian The Snail – 2.25 Goodwood
If he brings what was a brilliant Stewards’ Cup run to the table he’ll definitely have a chance. Horses for courses and all that. A reproduction of that effort would be good enough to win this so hopefully he does.
Toro Strike – 3.35 Goodwood
He’s got a few pounds to find at the weights, but he’s another that likes Goodwood judging by his last run. He’s got to improve, but he could do.
Fev Rover – Fillies Mile next
Won the G2 Shadwell Prix du Calvados last Saturday
I was delighted she won in spite of the ground, I’m sure she doesn’t want it soft really. She’s progressing. She’s come out of it real good and we’ve got to go for a Group One now, probably the Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket.
Rhythm Master – Newmarket options
3rd in the G1 Darley Prix Morny last Sunday
It was a mighty run second time out in a Group One. He’s a horse that’s going to progress and a horse we like a lot. I’m not saying I’m disappointed in the run but I’d love to have a crack at it again if you know what I mean. He’s a fair horse and we’ll look at both the Middle Park and the Dewhurst.
SATURDAY RUNNERS
In Paradise – 12.20 Newmarket
She battled well and got the trip well when winning at Leicester the other day. If she goes on the ground she’ll have a chance, she’s tough and very genuine.
Lexi The One – 12.55 Newmarket
She won’t mind the ground. I’ve been struggling to find a race for her but she’s in good form at home so we’ll see what happens.
Shark Two One – 1.30 Newmarket
He’s quite a nice colt, I thought he ran okay first time out and he’ll improve quite a bit. He’ll need to on form, but he’s quite a nice colt. I like him. The ground would be an unknown.
Ventura Rebel – 2.05 Newmarket
He has form on soft ground, he’s in great order. It’s been tough to find races for him, as well, but this race should suit him. Hopefully he can bounce back to his best form. On that he’d have a chance.
Twilight Prince – 2.55 Redcar
He ran well first time out when second at Redcar and then was extremely disappointing next time at Hamilton – I don’t know why. He’s working well, we’re happy with him and I’m looking forward to seeing him run.
Royal Guard – 3.30 Redcar
I thought he ran well first time up at Catterick on debut last month. He’s by a sire in Holy Roman Emperor who you would expect to give him the tools to go on soft ground, so we’ll see.
Gallipoli & Irreverent – 6.15 Redcar
I’d say both are unlikely to run on soft ground.
Kingson – 7.15 Redcar
He’s not shown anything at all this year, I don’t know why. I’d like to see him run a bit better before we give him a chance.
