Japan Racing Association Tyros Stakes report: Military Style makes all under Emmet McNamara

Emmet McNamara produced another fine front-running ride as Military Style (7/1) won the Japan Racing Association Tyros Stakes at Leopardstown.

Fresh from Serpentine's Investec Derby triumph, he took this son of War Front forward from the stalls and it was clear at the furlong pole that he would take some catching.

Stablemate Van Gogh (6/1) came through for second and did close him down but the line came in time for Military Style who held on to score by a neck.

4/1 favourite Masen finished close-up in third having been short of racing room at the two furlong pole.

"He was only beaten a length in the Marble Hill at Cork which was good run in Group Three company last time so he was entitled to have his chance here," the winning rider told Racing TV.

"He improved from the step up to seven furlongs for six and Adrian Maguire, who rides him most days at home, gave me plenty of confidence. today. He loved the ground here and everything was in his favour.

"The plan was to go forward - we found ourselves in front - he had the experience and I was happy to go an even pace if that suited everyone else. I filled up at halfway and he toughed it out well in the end. He's very, very genuine and has that willing attitude.

"Seven furlongs is a nice distance for him at the moment but a mile shouldn't be a problem for him either."

Paddy Power and Betfair introduced the winner at 50/1 for the QIPCO 2000 Guineas.
