Man On The Spot best bets for Gulfstream Park on Friday

Check out our race-by-race verdicts and nap selection for Friday's meeting at Gulfstream Park.

Race 1

Several have shown enough to suggest they can win at this level. Traceability improved to finish runner-up here last month while Winning Factor and Joe Benjamin filled the places over a slightly longer trip last time. But BEBEAU has been competing in more valuable claimers than this and having finished a close-up fourth over course and distance on his latest start, Kelly Breen’s charge gets the vote in an open contest.

Race 2

Dardanellos never threatened the winner when runner-up here last time though finished in front of both Bellas Fella and the disappointing favourite Gambit. Hail Michigan has gone the wrong way and takes a further drop in class while Todd Pletcher quickly drops SILVER MAKER into claiming company having failed to figure in a couple of straight maidens. But the three-year-old may still prove good enough at this level receiving weight from the older horses and looks the one to side with.

Race 3

Most of these are old foes and Donder ‘n Blitzen had Lady Noguez and Beasaichi in close attendance when scoring at this level. But she’d earlier finished behind DAYS OF SPRING when the latter scored here in February and Dan Hurtak’s filly can go close again back in this grade having raced in tougher contests subsequently. Vickythebest debuts for new connections having been claimed after winning over 7f on the main track and Amelia Madelyn will only take part if the race is switched to the dirt track.

Race 4

CAROLYN’S SMILE (NAP) faded in the homestretch over track and trip on her first outing since last summer. She’ll be sharper for that as she drops down into a claimer for the first time and Ralph Nicks’ filly gets the vote to open her account. Teenage Kicks, Quiet Company and Bird Map are others debuting in a claimer with preference for the latter while Miss Adventure posted her best effort so far when fourth in this grade last time though that was over a longer trip.

Race 5

Gorgeous In Grey has bits of form as she returns to action while La Incondicional won here in January though was beaten by Algodonal at the end of last year. The latter missed out by only a head over track and trip last month with both Feature Creature and Fantastic Kingdom behind and should go close but SO CHARMING is preferred. The latter ended a long losing run dropped into this grade recently and another bold bid is expected with Saffie Joseph’s yard in flying form.

Race 6

TAKE CHARGE DUDE will likely prove a warm order in this. He missed the break on the Turf course here last time but won five of 12 outings last year and is the one to beat back on the main track today. Killa Dee beat Arrivederla and Jersey Joe B when scoring here last month and the latter got the better of subsequent winner Starship Apollo back in January. Phish Fan won at Parx earlier in the year but Travy Boy has something to find with a couple of these.

Race 7

GIOIELLI struggled over 6f on the main track here last time. But Todd Pletcher’s mare has shown her best form on Turf and a repeat of an earlier third over track and trip may prove good enough in this company despite a wide draw. Whiskarita is another with an outside draw to contend with though was beaten only a nose here last month with a couple of these behind while Zodiac Princess has an apprentice’s allowance helping her cause looking to reverse recent running with Magic River.

Race 8

This looks wide-open with the likes of Super Cute, Four Grands, Finding Fame and Four Graces all making winning debuts earlier this year and capable of figuring with normal progress. Good Credence is a maiden winner at Belmont and placed in a stakes race at the latter track back in October while SWEET MIA won her first two outings before placing in this grade at Tampa. Any further improvement should see her in the mix once again with Tyler Gaffalione’s presence another positive and she gets a speculative vote.

Race 9

Dillon Rocks and Crypto Gold finally won maiden races last time but this is tougher while Sir Hoski has placed in all three subsequent outings since landing a maiden. Positive Phil also finished in the money here last time when ahead of Smell Of Roses but YOUSHOULDBESOLUCKY has the strongest form having found only one too good in three of his last four starts and Ed Plesa’s charge is taken to go one better on this occasion.

Race 10

R MAN JOE deserves a change of luck having been clear of the rest in all three starts so far before caught in the closing stages. That included a neck defeat in a stakes race here last month and he gets another chance on that form. Muskoka Storm finished in front of Allegedly Perfect and Sail At Sunrise when narrowly beaten in similar company recently while Shared Legacy and On The Muscle can figure at this level. Caribbean Gold looks a likely improver and Irked drops in class for powerful connections on his reappearance.
