I fancied a European shipper for Bill Mott on Friday but thanks to the horse bunny-hopping out of the gate our fate was essentially sealed there and then. However, I’m keen to do the same again today in an allowance at Keeneland with a filly who stands out head and shoulders above the opposition.
IMMENSITUDE won three of her eight starts for Stephane Wattel in France, including a listed success at Longchamp and landing a Group 3 at Chantilly on her final start last September. For the latter she earned a Timeform rating of 113 which is a clear standout effort in this field.
It will be interesting to see how she fares having never come off such a lengthy absence before, but she was a winning newcomer back in December 2022. As I pointed out on Friday, Mott can generally be relied upon for having his horses tuned up and she’s been a regular on the worktab.
She’s a short price, but for me, anything you see with her odds against should be mopped up in what isn’t a deep race.
Race five at Santa Anita is also an allowance for 3-year-old fillies’ and a more competitive affair at that.
I’m siding with SHOW CARD for Bob Baffert to land this dirt sprint. She’s had just the three runs and has improved considerably with each on the speedfigures I use.
She has to reverse form from two back with Nay V Belle, but she earned her diploma last out and exits that race with the best figure in the field. She looks the pace angle and if continuing the upward trajectory, should be a tough nut to crack.
