Fran Berry tips for Tipperary and Sligo

Fran Berry has a trio of selections across the cards at Tipperary and Sligo today - check out the former top jockey's tips.

Recommended bets, Friday August 7

1pt e.w. Bashiyr in 2.45 Sligo at 9/1

1pt e.w. Scholastic in 3.20 Sligo at 7/1

1pt win What Wonders Weave in 7.10 Tipperary at 4/1

There's a decent Flat card at Sligo today but watch out if you're betting in Ireland as it may be baking hot in England but we've had a bit of rain overnight and through the morning.

It's gone good to yielding at Sligo but that won't bother BASHIYR in the 2.45.

The betting is topped for Joseph O'Brien's three-year-old Mr Mooj who ran a very good race at Leopardstown on his last start but he looks short enough now.

I'm really keen on Dermot Weld's horse again him at 9/1 (bet365, 8/1 General). He won two races last year at Cork and Galway, and ran well in defeat in premier handicaps as well.

He was beaten over six lengths at the Curragh the last day but it doesn't tell the whole story as he was trapped very wide and faced an impossible task really. He was never nearer at the line and has been dropped 3lb for it which looks generous.

The rain is a boost having won on soft before and he's unexposed at the trip after just one go over 10 furlongs. A first-time visor may also help - it certainly doesn't put me off anyway.

In the 0-65 10 furlong handicap at 3.20, I'm drawn to the reserve for Joseph - namely SCHOLASTIC (7/1 General), who I put up here last time she ran.

She beat a subsequent winner quite comfortably at Limerick on her penultimate outing and was drawn out of it really at Leopardstown. I took a chance on it but it didn't work out. She looks made for this extra distance and has a good draw here in stall eight.

It's good stuff at Tipperary too where they've had even more rain and the going is yielding to soft. I'll mainly be having a watching brief but can't leave WHAT WONDERS WEAVE at 9/2 (Sky Bet) in the last race, the lady rider's race.

'Shark' Hanlon has his team in good form and this mare was a three-time winner including on bad ground at Hamilton. She had a long time off before coming back over jumps and she's done well, looking progressive. She is back on the Flat here and lower in the ratings than for her last win in the UK.

She'll love this step up in trip and the ground looks to have really come in her favour.
