Recommended bets: Breaking It Down

2pts win Midnight Gypsy in 14.20 Stratford at 11/4 - has always shown ability and connections have found a race lacking depth

3pts win Little Chunk in 15.20 Stratford at 10/3 - suited by the track and progressive performer is still fairly treated

1pt win Kayf Blanco in 15.20 Stratford at 10/3 - classy performer who drops in grade and rates the danger

2.20 Stratford

MIDNIGHT GYPSY has been sparingly raced over the past twelve suggesting she may have niggles which prevent her from seeing the racecourse on a more consistent basis.

Since her bumper days she has always shown ability but she is a fractious type and can pull very hard in her races. Coming into the race after a break her freshness may be an issue but I hope it is negated by running around the sharp turns of Stratford.

Connections have experimented with different tactics for Midnight Gypsy as she has made the running in the past resulting in her using way too much gas early.

Everything dropped right two runs ago at Hereford, she was buried out the back under today's jockey Nico De Boinville and made smooth headway to win very easily.  She was then turned out under a penalty in anAmateur Riders' event where again she travelled beautifully but was sent for home way too soon under Mr James King and weakened close home.

She's enjoyed the winter off to have a summer campaign on better going.  If she manages to stay relaxed and switches off in the race she will take all the beating.

Connections have found a race that lacks substance as it's hard to fancy much on paper. Her price of 11/4 is fair.

3.20 Stratford

We have a few in-form horses here with the likes of St Saviour, Free Stone Hill and Little Chunk.

St Saviour has competed in competitive races of late and is likely to give his running today.

It's hard to know what Free Stone Hill achieved last time out and he has gone up two pounds in the handicap. He can still prove competitive off this mark.

Kayf Blanco has always possessed a touch of class and is taking a drop in grade today.  Creeping down the handicap he has his perfect conditions and 10/3 is appealing.

My selection is LITTLE CHUNK.  He has a nice progressive profile and I feel he's still on a winnable mark.  His last start was at Stratford, prior to that he won around Plumpton, and he's a horse who seems at home on sharp tracks.  His hurdling is very efficient and he's a nice straightforward ride.

Mikey Hamill knows the horse well and I think he will take a lot of beating from the front. Kayf Blanco is the nearest danger.
