We've teamed up with Weatherbys to provide the key racing trends ahead of Saturday's Betway Handicap Chase at Kempton.
3:35 Kempton – Betway Handicap Chase (Grade 3)
TRENDS
- 7/10 WINNERS Finished 1st 2nd or 3rd last time out
- 9/10 WINNERS Aged 7-9
- 7/10 WINNERS Rated between 134-145
- 9/10 WINNERS 3 or less chase wins
BETTRENDS SELECTION: JUST A STING
Relatively lightly-raced chasers have a good record in Saturday’s Betway Handicap Chase, in which the vote goes the way of JUST A STING. A winner over course-and-distance last time, Harry Fry’s runner fits the age and rating profile and that latest victory was his third chase win on just his seventh start over fences. Runner-up on his only other start at the track, Kempton clearly suits the eight-year-old, who has presumably been aimed at this since his win at the festive meeting.
Henry Daly’s novice Whatmore is another who ticks all the boxes and is respected, whilst there are plenty of others who match up with three of the key trends. Higher up the weights, Talkischeap is another who warrants consideration, whilst three novices have won this race in the past nine years, and Dashing Perk is very much another for the shortlist. Stepping up in trip (as several recent winners were doing), he only misses out on the rating statistic, although he has the scope to improve considerably.
