Report

Daniel Berger closed his final round with an eagle to claim a two-shot victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Sunday, as England’s Paul Casey finished in a tie for fifth.

Berger made two eagles, four birdies and a single bogey as he posted the best round of the day – a seven-under-par 65 which took him to 18 under for the tournament.

His fellow American Maverick McNealy took second after a closing 66, while Patrick Cantlay shot a 68 to share third with third-round leader Jordan Spieth on 15 under.

Seeking his first win since the 2017 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, Spieth started the day with a two-shot lead. But after birdieing the second, he made bogeys at the third, fifth and 14th, which scuppered his chances, despite two late birdies at the 17th and 18th.

Casey began the day three shots off the lead and made birdies on the second and sixth holes.

He dropped a shot with a bogey five at the 10th, but recovered with back-to-back birdies at the 12th and 13th before finishing with another at the 18th to get to 14 under.

Scotland’s Russell Knox, starting the day in a share of second place two strokes off the lead, managed only a two-under 70 to drop into a five-way tie for seventh.
