Champions League of Darts 2016: Group draw & results


The full group stage and knockout results from the Champions League of Darts, which took place on September 24-25 at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena.

The inaugural BBC-screened Unibet Champions League of Darts took place from September 24-25 in Cardiff and featured eight of the biggest names in the sport - but in the end the final was contested by the 'greatest of all time' and the 'greatest right now' 

The tournament consisted of two groups of four players, with the top two in each going through to the semi-finals.

World number one Michael van Gerwen renewed his rivalry with Phil Taylor in Group A but was soundly beaten before failing to get revenge when they met again in the final 24 hours later.

World champion Gary Anderson, Adrian Lewis, James Wade, Peter Wright, Robert Thornton and Michael Smith were the other players to compete.

Champions League of Darts Odds

World number one Michael van Gerwen is unsurprisngly Sky Bet's 8/11 favourite to win the Champions League of Darts while 16-time world champion Phil Taylor is regarded his major threat at 9/2.

Current world champion Gary Anderson is next in the running at 5/1 ahead of Adrian Lewis (12/1) while Peter Wright (14/1), James Wade (20/1), Michael Smith (33/1) and Robert Thornton (66/1) are the outsiders.

Champions League of Darts Format

The Champions League of Darts comprises of the leading eight players in the PDC's Order of Merit: Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson, Adrian Lewis, Phil Taylor, Peter Wright, James Wade, Michael Smith and Robert Thornton.

The eight players have been split into two groups of four for the round-robin stage. The top two from each group after three matches will progress to the semi-finals.
